Three of the Most Important Words a Christian can ever Learn

1/30/10

Churches like countries, have an evil tendency to degeneration; we have fought to preserve our national freedom in this country, let us now ardently preserve historical biblical Christianity. From the very beginning of Christianity subjectivism has made its hourly encroachments and now modern Christianity is drunk on heart-centered popish theology in which supercharged experience is lord over verbal revelation. An historic shift is occurring in 21st Christianity away from Pauline doctrine back to medieval paganism with its emphasis and trust in heart-centered experience.Heart-centered teachers because of public infatuation have risen into renown, who not knowing the Truth have corrupted the church by introducing the wooden horse of subjectivism into the Trojan fortress of Christianity and thereby have confounded the Truth of Judeo-Christian theology. Where did our Lord place His trust and confidence in dealing with the most difficult battle of His earthly life? Christ trusted in God’s Word Alone and not in His experiences or feelings. His confidence was in the verbal inspiration of all of God’s Word Mat 3:16-17 The Lord Jesus believed in verbal inspiration.

How To Protect Your Family From Satan by Scripture Alone

How to Protect Your Family from Satan by Scripture Alone

1/24/10 Sermon

For the past two centuries Christianity has been subjected to an unrelenting barrage of criticism from scientists who have argued that many historical statements in the Bible are wrong; that man, and the universe as well, evolved—they were not created; that the Bible’s view of the universe is primitive and mythological; and that the Christian view of God and man cannot be reconciled with our modern scientific discoveries.

In the popular mind, the modern phrase, “ it has been scientifically proved” has replaced the Biblical phrase “ thus says the Lord,” as the final court of appeal.

In The Philosophy of Science and Belief in God, Dr. Gordon H. Clark analyzes science from a Biblical and logical perspective. His conclusions are rather startling, perhaps not to scientists themselves, but to many laymen who have been deceived by modern idolatry of science. Science, says Dr. Clark, can offer no objection to either God or the Bible, for science can never discover truth. It is ever learning but never able to come to the knowledge of truth. How To Be Filled With The Spirit

There is so much confusion about the filling of the Holy Spirit today. Many emphasize that a person must speak in tongues in order to be filled with the Spirit. There is little understanding concerning what the Bible says about how to be filled.

Purpose: To learn from Scripture what it means to be filled with the Spirit and how to continually walk in the Spirit.

1. First of all we are commanded to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Eph 5:18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,

(a) be filled—present tense, passive voice, imperative mood

(b) The Greek word plaroo means to fill, to make full, to fill up,

to fill up a deficiency, to pervade, to influence fully, to possess fully,

to dominate.

How To Be Happy Over The Holidays

How To Be Happy Over The Holidays

How to be Happy over the Holidays

Intro. Many people have a difficult time during the holidays for various reasons. Some people try to capture a feeling from the past. Others miss relationships that they once had. And others know that things are not the way they should be but wish that they could be different. Therefore, these reasons and a host of others tend to depress people over the holidays. Only God’s Word has the answer for these common problems and provides us with the happiness that we long for in our lives.

Purpose: To learn from Scripture the cure for all unhappiness and to learn how to help others when they are hurting and down during the holidays.

God and Logic

God and Logic

Gordon H. Clark

In thinking about God, Calvinists almost immediately repeat the Shorter Catechism and say, “God is a spirit, infinite, eternal, and unchangeable.” Perhaps we do not pause to clarify our ideas of spirit, but hurry on to the attributes of “wisdom, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth.” But pause: Spirit, Wisdom, Truth. Psalm 31:5 addresses God as “O Lord God of truth.John 17:3 says,” This is life eternal, that they might know thee, the only true God….” 1 John 5:6 says, “the Spirit is truth.” Such verses as these indicate that God is a rational, thinking being whose thought exhibits the structure of Aristotelian logic.

If anyone objects to Aristotelian logic in this connection-and presumably he does not want to replace it with the Boolean-Russellian symbolic logic-let him ask and answer whether it is true for God that if all dogs have teeth, some dogs-spaniels-have teeth? Do those who contrast this “merely human logic” with a divine logic mean that for God all dogs may have teeth while spaniels do not? Similarly, with “merely human” arithmetic: two plus two is four for man, but is it eleven for God? Ever since Bernard distrusted Abelard, it has been a mark of piety in some quarters to disparage “mere human reason”; and at the present time existentialistic, neo-orthodox authors object to “straight-line” inference and insist that faith must “curb” logic. Thus they not only refuse to make logic an axiom, but reserve the right to repudiate it. In opposition to the latter view, the following argument will continue to insist on the necessity of logic; and with respect to the contention that Scripture cannot be axiomatic because logic must be, it will be necessary to spell out in greater detail the meaning of Scriptural revelation.

Now, since in this context verbal revelation is a revelation from God, the discussion will begin with the relation between God and logic. Afterward will come the relation between logic and the Scripture. And finally the discussion will turn to logic in man.
